Organizations
The following is a list of organizations/initiatives that I
will be working under, and a description of each.

SchoolNet Uganda
SchoolNet Uganda will be the organization which I will be working
directly for in Uganda.
Vision: SchoolNet Uganda is a national network of professional
educators and schools whose vision is to transform the Uganda
education system from an industrial model (learning by assimilation)
to a knowledge-based model to prepare the Youth of Uganda to
effectively enter a Global Economy based on knowledge, Information
and Technology.
Mission: To support innovative educators in Uganda, promoting
the integration of Information and Communication Technologies
in education.

VSO Canada
VSO Canada is the NGO that selected me, helped me find a position,
trained me, and is sending me to Uganda. They will provide me
with health insurance, accommodation, language and skills training,
a modest living allowance, and in-country support when needed.
VSO is the "world's largest independent international
development agency working through volunteers." VSO began
over 40 years ago by sending its first volunteers overseas from
Britain. VSO began recruiting Canadians in 1992 and has sent
over 400 volunteers overseas. VSO Canada is a registered Charity:
891235541 RR 0001
Mission: VSO enables men and women to work alongside people
in poorer countries in order to share skills, build capabilities
and promote international understanding and action, in the pursuit
of a more equitable world.

Netcorps Canada International
NetCorps is funded by Industry Canada and is implemented by
a coalition of eight Canadian development agencies such as VSO
and CUSO. The purpose is "to match interns with Information
Technology skills to placements where they can make a solid
contribution to development work, while expanding their own
professional skills." NetCorps places 255 Canadians to
developing countries per year.
